Our Story

As a young boy, Dale L. Spaulding had a knack for tearing things apart and putting them back together again. Before long he was the local go-to guy for fixing all the farm equipment, trucks and cars. His love for fixing things took him to the United States Naval Construction Battalions or Seabees where he received formal training on diesel and heavy-duty equipment. At the conclusion of his service, he returned home and began working in the automotive and diesel industry as a mechanic and later as a service manager. During this same time, he married his high school sweetheart Deanna V. Bütikofer. A growing family and challenges in the industry turned him to DairyLand Dairy where he serviced their fleet up and down the valley and made quite a name for himself. When Dairy Land went out of business, the owner thought so highly of Dale he gave him all the shop tools and equipment allowing him to start his own business. With the help of Deanna’s brother and wife, Linden, and Lois, Dale started the business in 1979. The shop grew out of an old farm shed converted into a shop, which is still standing off East River Road, now known as the Sage Lakes Maintenance building. The business name came from the old school house on the same said property. The business operated under that partnership until the late 1990’s.

Sage Creek Repair has been in the current location of 1870 South Yellowstone Hwy. since 2000. Throughout the recent history of the business, Dale’s children have been involved in everyday operations. Dale’s desire was to keep the business family-owned and operated. In 2015, Brett and April Spaulding purchased the business. As a family-owned business, they continue to implement Dale’s business model of honesty and integrity with a reputation of offering quality repairs drivers can depend on.
